We are looking for a Paralegal to join our Regulatory team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Director, Regulatory Planning & Compliance, you will work in the Regulatory Department and be responsible for providing expertise and hands-on support.
Key elements of this role include::
Drafting correspondence, document management and preparation of documents for filing with the regulator.
Assisting with maintenance and oversight of the Regulatory Affairs SharePoint sites.
Maintaining a document tracking and compliance system to ensure all required deliverables are met and assigned appropriately.
Scheduling appointments and meetings as needed.
Travel arrangements and meal ordering as needed.
Proof-reading and editing documents, maintaining paper and electronic files, and performing other related paralegal functions.
As a key member of the Regulatory Affairs Department, you may also be required to participate in project work.
You may also engage with the staff at the Nova Scotia Energy Board on process-related issues.
You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:You are an experienced Paralegal with a minimum of three to five (3-5) years' professional experience in that role. More experienced candidates are welcome to apply.
Formal paralegal training as well as a university degree in a related field; BA or equivalent is considered an asset.
You are a hands-on practitioner, highly organized, handle pressure well, and can handle multiple projects and understand the importance of strict deadlines. You must also know how to relate to people in a variety of situations, be highly trustworthy, discreet, and use good judgment. You may be required to interact with members of senior and executive management.
You demonstrate effective communication by applying excellent writing, comprehension and proof-reading skills. Customer service, problem solving and decision-making skills are essential.
You possess strong analytical and quantitative skills, are attentive to detail and like to work in a dynamic environment.
You are able to handle the stresses of a fast-paced, busy environment where priorities can shift frequently and where there are multiple priorities requiring attention.
You are customer focused and work well both independently and as part of a team.
Prior experience in records management would also be an asset but is not required.
Proficiency in the MS Office Suite of software (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook), and Internet Explorer is required. Proficiency in SharePoint and Adobe Pro would be an asset.
