The Retiree Employment Agency support retirees over 50 who wish to re-enter the labour market and to address employers in the Miramichi, and greater region, short-term (less than 52 consecutive weeks) labour needs by recruiting from a pool of talent through a pairing process.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the John Howard Society of Miramichi Inc., (JHSM) the pairing officer identifies and recruits retirees over 50 and employers wishing to fill short-term positions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Establish and maintain relationships of trust with the retirees and employers;
? Establish a pool of employers who have demonstrated a potential to hire retirees;
? Participate in discussions related to the pairing process;
? Organize networking visits in the greater Miramichi region;
? Create and update the register of participants in the pairing process;
? Meet the needs of retirees and employers in terms of pairing;
? Develop interview and job preparation tools or connect retirees with the appropriate community resources;
? Promote the Agency's services to employers and retirees;
? Meet the expectations of employers in terms of needs;
? Periodically follow up with retirees and employers;
? Develop a promotion strategy to encourage retirees and employers to register with the Agency;
? Ensure that participants are well equipped for their job search (which could include CV, cover letter, interview, etc.);
? Plan, organize, and deliver workshops for retirees*;
? Help retirees set realistic goals in terms of preparation and integration into the labour market;
? Help retirees recognize their transferable skills;
? Write reports on a regular basis;
? On a quarterly basis, provide surveys to retirees and employers who have been paired;
? Other related duties.
The topics identified are based on retiree needs. Workshops on topics such as: financial and tax impacts (for groups and individuals), preparation for returning to work, safety measures (general and in the context of a pandemic), interview, ergonomics and/or other specific training as needed (forklift, WHMIS, lifting and movement technique, etc.).*
QUALIFICATIONS
Training
Post-secondary diploma and related work experience. An equivalence in experience may be considered.
Skills
Written and spoken competence in
English and French

Ability to use social media, various job search websites, and the Microsoft Office suite;
Good organizational skills;
Ability to manage several files and projects simultaneously;
Have communication and interpersonal skills;
Easy to adapt and quick to learn.

Possess a means of transportation and a valid driver's licence;
Be willing to travel within the greater Miramichi region (Neguac, Baie-Sainte-Anne, and Rogersville regions).
