Packaging Lead/Assistant Distiller

Patent 5 Distillery, Manitoba's only certified craft distillery, continues to grow and is adding a part time Packaging lead and Assistant Distiller to our talented and creative production team. The packaging responsibilities are the primary task, in addition, you will learn how to mash, ferment and distill as we continue to grow. For the first six months the position requires 3 days/week with some flexibility to coordinate with your schedule. We work hard, enjoy what we do, and take pride in our spirits. We're after a self-starter, who works well with others, and wants to join us on an exciting journey!

Essential duties and responsibilities to include (but are not limited to):

Packaging of spirits (proofing, bottling, labelling) Proofing, blending, barreling of spirits Scheduling packaging based on estimated demand Small batch distillation of spirits Mashing, fermenting, and distilling vodka, gin, whisky, brandy, and more! Transferring of mash, fermentations, high wines, etc. Distillation on both our 400-gallon stripping still and 125-gallon spirit still Daily quality assurance/quality control responsibilities Guiding occasional tours of the distillery Research and development/recipe formulation Cleaning and sanitation of distilling and bottling equipment
Applicant qualifications

1-3 years of previous distilling or brewing experience strongly preferred Background in chemistry or lab processes preferred, but not required Strong mechanical/light industrial background preferred, but not required Previous experience working with open-source microcontroller electronic preferred Experience with Microsoft Excel Experience in the beverage industry, with a passion for craft beverages in particular Proven ability to work with little to no supervision Willing to work some long hours, including weekends and occasional evenings
Job Type: Part-time

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
