Street Haven is a dynamic women's multi-service agency that provides shelter, supportive housing, training supports, and addictions therapy to vulnerable women in Toronto. We were established in 1965 and serve 1500 individuals annually. We have seen an increasing complexity of mental health and addiction needs among our clients. We are seeking a qualified and passionate candidate to take on this temporary role who can be part of our high-performance team and provide comprehensive support to improve the lives of our clients.
Position Overview
=====================
Reporting to the Program Director, Shelter and Supportive Housing, the Overnight Support Worker (Transitional Housing) provides individualized support to clients, assisting them in achieving their housing-related goals through comprehensive case management, advocacy, and support services. The Overnight Support Worker actively participates in the Shelter and all other Street Haven programs. The Overnight Support Worker liaises with community agencies, landlords, the Housing Homeless Network, and RENT.
Key Responsibilities
========================
Housing Case Management
Conduct collaborative initial housing intake assessments
Support clients in housing search, application, and secured placement
Assist with income support applications (Ontario Works, Ontario Disability, Stabilization Fund)
Facilitate client transitions from shelter to community housing
Provide crisis intervention and eviction prevention support
Offer life skills coaching, budgeting guidance, and community resource navigation
Maintain a caseload of 6-10 shelter clients
Collaborate with Shelter Counsellors
Advocacy and Outreach

Facilitate landlord communications and housing site visits
Support client referrals to essential services (furniture banks, food banks, healthcare, immigration resources, schools, legal services)
Advocate for client needs
Collaborate with internal and external housing support networks
Education and Training
Develop and conduct monthly housing workshops
Facilitate program development with community service providers
Provide staff training and agency orientation
Represent the organization in community organizations
Administration
Prepare and submit quarterly and final reports to Shelter Support and Housing Administration
Maintain Housing Help database
Assist in developing funding proposals
Update Housing Information Board
Manage housing and eviction inquiries
Complete special projects as assigned
Within the scope of responsibilities, the Housing Support Worker
Manages the Housing Program in conjunction with Shelter Counsellors
Consults Program Manager for major decisions
Qualifications and Requirements
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Services or Social Work
Has a minimum of 2 years of professional experience working in social services or related fields, and/or a combination of relevant education and experience
Experience working in communal living settings and/or working with marginalized women would be an asset
Required Skills

Knowledge of housing support systems

Working Environment
Evenings, nights, and weekends
This position may be single shifted
This position may involve walking, commuting and participating in client housing, recreational activities
The environment is dynamic may involve regular exposure to clients who have been homeless and are living with challenges associated with mental health and addictions.
Where We Work
This role is based in Downtown Toronto and requires working on-site during the hours of work. Some travel to other sites may be needed.
