Position Overview: The Overnight Security Officer plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of Revelstoke Mountain Resort properties, including Hotels, Day Lodges, Staff Accommodation, and the overall resort site. Working independently through the night, you will monitor all areas of the resort, respond to incidents, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and emergency procedures. This is a highly trusted, guest-facing role requiring calm judgment, strong observation, and proactive action. Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the safety and security of all RMR facilities during overnight hours, including The Sutton Place Hotel, Day Lodges, Staff Housing, and resort infrastructure
Conduct scheduled and unscheduled patrols of guest areas, staff areas, back-of-house zones, and outdoor grounds
Monitor and respond to alarms, guest complaints, unauthorized access, or suspicious activity
Act as the primary emergency response contact overnight--fire, medical, disturbances, or equipment failure
Administer First Aid when necessary and liaise with Mountain Patrol Team
Enforce safety and resort policies; investigate and document violations, incidents, and hazards
Provide support for crowd control, noise mitigation, and staff safety in staff accommodations
Maintain accurate records, such as Daily Shift Reports and key/security logs
Report maintenance issues, fire hazards, or safety concerns in real-time
Act as a professional and reassuring presence to guests and staff
Maintain clear communication with leadership teams through detailed overnight handovers
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in a security or emergency response role
Valid BC Security Worker License (Basic Security Training an asset; training can be provided)
WorkSafeBC Immediate First Aid required
Strong understanding of site security, emergency protocols, and guest service standards
Comfortable working alone, outdoors, and in varying weather conditions
High attention to detail with strong communication and incident reporting skills
Calm, professional demeanor and sound judgment under pressure
Physically capable of walking, standing, and lifting (up to 30 pounds) for extended periods
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and digital report logs
Work Conditions:
Overnight shifts only (typically 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM, subject to operational needs)
Solo and team-based patrols depending on shift and property coverage
Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments, stairs, uneven terrain, and weather extremes
May require response to intoxicated guests, noise complaints, or wellness checks
