About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Respite Support Worker to provide overnight care and support for a neurodivergent child in Stony Plain, Alberta. This overnight position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child's life while supporting their family through quality respite care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide safe, nurturing overnight care and supervision for a neurodivergent child
Implement individualized support strategies and follow established care plans
Ensure the child's physical, emotional, and developmental needs are met during overnight hours
Maintain a calm, supportive environment conducive to rest and comfort
Document activities, behaviors, and any concerns as required
Respond appropriately to various behaviors and situations with patience and understanding
Communicate effectively with family members and supervisory staff
Follow all agency policies, procedures, and safety protocols
Mandatory Requirements
Valid Class 5 Driver's License
(Alberta)
Reliable personal vehicle
with appropriate insurance coverage
Experience working with neurodivergent children or individuals with developmental differences
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations
Physical ability to provide care and supervision throughout the night
Flexibility and adaptability to meet individual needs
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries
Preferred Qualifications
Alberta Health Care Aide Directory active certification or education related to the position
Training in autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, or other neurodevelopmental conditions
First Aid and CPR certification
Previous respite experience
Knowledge of positive behavior support strategies

Must be comfortable working independently during overnight hours
Position may involve periods of active supervision as well as quiet monitoring
