Here's how you will contribute as a Respite Support Worker:
As a Respite Support Aide at Bright Star Respite, you should enjoy working with children who have exceptional abilities such as Autism, ADHD & Down syndrome. You must also be good at relationship building with families and other agencies & have excellent problem-solving, organizational, and collaboration skills. Bright Star Respite is focused on Trauma-Informed Care for both our communities and staff teams and provides services based on research and evidence-based practices. Within our programs, you will help to foster a family-oriented environment for children aged from 3 years old to 17 years by working within a relational, developmental model and utilizing a harm reduction, attachment-based approach. Your role will be to support children and families to reconnect with themselves and their communities in meaningful ways, creating long-lasting, permanent relationships. You will also encourage and support the development of healthy living skills. And to ensure a safe, stable, and consistent environment for the children and families.

Responsibilities:
? Provide direct care & constant supervision, including personal hygiene and meaningful
assistance.
? Foster genuine relationships promoting dignity, care, and compassion to teach life skills.
? Empower children to participate in recreational activities and achieve their IPP goals.
? Communicate effectively with other team members, which includes parents/guardians of the children, direct supervisor, and co-workers.
? Assist in light housekeeping to maintain a safe, clean, home-like environment.
? Maintain timely, accurate, and professional documentation in accordance with Bright
Star Respite's policies and procedures.
Must have:

What you will bring to the role:
? Diploma in Community Support Worker, Health Care Aides, Child & Youth Care, or Social Work with over 2 years related experience
? Certificate in Human Services with over 4 years experience
? Experience working with families from diverse cultures and backgrounds
? Experience & knowledge of Indigenous traditions and culture
? Experience working with children with ADHD, Autism, FASD, PTSD, G-Tube, Type 1
