I am a 27-year old female and I have a disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which is a neuromuscular condition somewhat similar to ALS or Muscular Dystrophy. It affects all my muscles in my body, including those needed to chew, swallow, roll over in bed, and breathe. Currently I am looking for a reliable Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) who is available to help me overnight. This job is incredibly laid-back overall, and since I'm able to self direct all my own care, it is the perfect opportunity for new grads or anyone looking to try out new skills.

Your duties would include (but are not limited to) the following:

Administering my nighttime medication Performing nightly ADL's which may include bathing, brushing teeth, getting my PJ's on, and feeding me snack Bowel and bladder routine, including catheterization Respiratory care using Bipap, cough assist, and suction machine Stretches / range of motion exercises and other pain management regimens Repositioning me throughout the night Routine cleaning / disinfecting of masks, tubing, and other common surfaces
You will be a good fit for this position if you:

Are comfortable pushing, pulling, rolling, and lifting my body weight of 100 pounds. Are dog friendly (I have a 8 year old toy poodle that frequently snuggles with me in bed, and will probably give you cuddles as well!) Are a night owl and feel confident in your ability to stay awake (and keep yourself busy) while I'm sleeping Are willing to work your shifts at an alternate location (other than my home) on occasion. This may include working at the hospital during sleep studies, working at my family cottage, or when I visit friends / family. You are young at heart and have a fun, humorous personality! Although there are medical aspects to this position, please remember that I am in my 20's and this care will be carried out in my own home; as such, I appreciate those who I am able to get along well with!

Sunday overnight Monday overnight Tuesday overnight Wednesday overnight Thursday overnight

Hours & Compensation

The ideal candidate will be available to work 9:30 PM to 9 AM, however an alternative schedule can be discussed.

Flat rate of $300-$400 per night depending on how many hours you can stay for.

Minimum Requirements:

Practical Nurse Diploma Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate Police Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening for Employment
URGENTLY HIRING! Position will start as soon as possible, but no later than July 24.
