About Rowan House Society:



Rowan House Society provides crisis intervention and preventative education to support individuals affected by domestic violence and abuse. We serve a large geographic area in Southern Alberta, including Foothills County, Vulcan County, and MD of Willow Creek.

Join our team providing critical support to individuals experiencing domestic violence and abuse.

The Role:



As an Outreach Support Worker, you will play a vital role in our client-centered Outreach Program. You will provide essential support to individuals experiencing domestic violence and abuse, helping them navigate their journey towards a safer and more stable future. This role involves:

Client-Centered Support: Building and maintaining a caseload of clients who have experienced domestic violence, providing emotional support, safety planning, goal setting, and parenting support. Case Management: Utilizing a case management approach to address client needs, including completing Danger Assessment Lethality Tools to enhance safety planning. Trauma-Informed Practice: Providing support in a trauma-informed manner, both orally and in writing, to clients, coworkers, and the community. Community Collaboration: Connecting clients with vital community resources and maintaining relationships with external professionals. Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate and timely client documentation, including intake processes, case notes, referrals, and closure processes. Program Participation: Attending staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities. Community Representation: Representing Rowan House Society professionally and supportively within the community.

What You'll Do:



Establish and maintain a client caseload, providing consistent and effective support. Develop and implement safety plans, conduct risk assessments, and offer emotional support. Provide information and referrals to community resources, ensuring clients have access to necessary services. Collaborate with other Rowan House Society programs to provide seamless client care. Maintain accurate and confidential client records. Participate in ongoing professional development and training. Represent Rowan House Society in a professional and positive manner.

What We're Looking For:



Education: Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Arts in Social Science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proof of education (degree, diploma, or official transcripts) will be required upon hire. Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in domestic violence and abuse, Children Services, homelessness, addictions, or mental health. Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong interpersonal and crisis intervention skills, and excellent written and verbal communication. Knowledge: Understanding of the effects of domestic violence and abuse, trauma-informed practices, and community resources. Attributes: Commitment to cultural humility, diversity, and equality; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team. Cultural Sensitivity: Awareness of the unique cultural and spiritual needs of Indigenous individuals, families, and communities, and a strong understanding of the realities and issues that impact Indigenous communities. Risk Assessment: Ability to analyze risk and provide strong risk mitigation procedures. Adaptability: Willingness to be innovative and creative in enhancing current processes.

Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check Child Intervention Check Current CPR and First Aid Certificate

Working Conditions:



This role involves community outreach, with office space available in Okotoks or at the Emergency Shelter. Physical requirements include occasional lifting of event materials and prolonged periods of sitting at a computer. Flexibility is essential, as evening and weekend work may be required.
