The CONNECT Program serves as the primary point of contact for our most vulnerable community members. It provides direct service delivery to those experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, offering essential support and resources.
Position Summary
The Outreach Worker plays a key role in engaging with vulnerable individuals, addressing immediate needs, and connecting clients to vital services. The main objectives of this role include:
Providing basic needs to foster relationships and trust.
Identifying barriers to housing stability.
Connecting individuals to appropriate services related to housing, health, education, income, and cultural support.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Client Services:
Coordinate and deliver a nutritious breakfast (Monday to Friday)
Distribute cold weather wear items and hygiene kits.
Provide information and general referrals.
Data Collection & Reporting:
Maintain sign-in sheets and statistical records.
Distribute and collect client surveys for program evaluation.
General Kitchen Duties:
Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards in food preparation areas.
Assist with meal preparation and food storage.
Support grocery shopping and supply management.
Help with cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and organizing kitchen areas.
Qualifications & Experience:
Post-secondary education in human services or equivalent experience.
Strong problem-solving and assessment skills.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Knowledge of community resources and services.
Awareness of issues affecting the homeless population, including mental health and addiction challenges.
Experience working with diverse cultural groups.
Strong teamwork, organizational, and communication skills.
FoodSafe, First Aid, and a valid BC Driver's License (Class 4 preferred).
