To support us on our journey, Sinai Health System is looking for a Orthopaedic Technician Assistant to support our Department of Surgery - Division of Orthopaedics (Fracture Clinic) at our Mount Sinai Hospital Campus. The Mount Sinai Hospital, Division of Orthopaedic Surgery is looking for a Casual Orthopaedic Technician Assistant to work in the Fracture Clinic. Our Orthopaedic Surgery Division surgeons specialize in musculoskeletal oncology, sports medicine, and lower extremity reconstruction. As a teaching institution, the majority of our Fracture Clinics are run by Orthopaedic Clinical Fellows who see a lot of trauma. In this role the Orthopaedic Technician Assistant will utilize their strong clinical skills in the assistance of the application and removal of casting materials; cast checks; limb monitoring; and the maintenance and application of traction equipment. The successful candidate would have to be able to work under the direction of both the Orthopaedic Surgeon and the Certified Charge Technologist, and assist with all aspects of Orthopaedic Surgery care including:

  • Aseptic technique
  • Complex dressing changes
  • Custom knee bracing
  • Hip abduction bracing
  • Custom Thermoplastic Splinting
  • All the different types of casts including specialized casting such as cast bracing
  • X-ray interpretation

Job Requirements
  • Successful completion of a college diploma in a related field from an accredited educational institution
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related academic/ training experience preferably training within a clinic/ health environment preferred.
  • Successfully registered with the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT).
  • Strong work ethic; positive, client focused attitude; superior professionalism; dependability and reliability; demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions, exercise good judgment, discretion and initiative when dealing with confidential information and/or in responding to inquiries
  • Excellent time management, organizational and self-planning skills displaying flexibility by adjusting work schedules according to changing priorities
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
