Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Optometric Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the daily operations of our optometry practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a keen attention to detail, and a passion for helping others. As an Optometric Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our patients receive the highest quality of care.

Duties

Assist patients with scheduling appointments and managing their records at the front desk. Conduct preliminary vision tests and gather patient medical history. Provide support during eye examinations by preparing instruments and assisting the optometrist. Educate patients on eyewear options, including lenses and frames, to facilitate informed purchasing decisions. Maintain accurate electronic medical records using systems such as Epic. Handle sales transactions related to optical products and services, ensuring a positive retail experience. Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the office and examination areas. Collaborate with team members to enhance patient flow and overall office efficiency.

Experience

Previous experience in patient care or a medical office setting is preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology related to optometry is advantageous. Experience with electronic medical records systems, particularly Epic, is a plus. Retail sales experience, especially in optical or related fields, will be beneficial. Experience working with pediatric patients is desirable but not required. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment are essential.
