Optometric Assistant

Job Description
We are looking for a warm, positive and outgoing personality to join our local, independent full scope practice serving the Calgary area. We are ideally looking for a candidate who is experienced in the optometric field and is well versed in reception duties, pre-testing patients prior to seeing the doctor, familiar with dispensing contact lenses and glasses, is reliable, efficient and detail oriented. Current or previous certification is an asset. An interest in myopia control and/or dry eye care is an asset.
We are open Monday-Saturday with some evenings required. We offer competitive wages based on experience, a health plan and incentive programs.
Responsibilities will include:
- Reception duties will include - warmly greeting patients; professional phone etiquette; booking appointments; optimizing scheduling; billing insurance and taking payments etc.
- Competently and efficiently completing all testing of patients
- Dispensing contact lenses and glasses
- Training in advanced treatments for dry eye
- Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and organization is maintained in all areas of the clinic
Qualifications:
- Experience in the optometric/optical industry
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong sales skills
- Fluent in English
