Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in providing exceptional customer service, assisting with optical product selection, and supporting the daily operations of our optical practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in eye care, retail sales, and delivering a positive patient experience. Prior experience in optical or retail environments is preferred, along with a solid understanding of medical terminology related to eye health. Responsibilities

Greet patients and customers warmly, ensuring a welcoming environment Assist with frame selection and lens options based on patient needs and preferences Measure and record patient prescriptions accurately using optical equipment Support the fitting and adjustment of eyewear for comfort and proper fit Maintain cleanliness and organization of the optical area and laboratory space Manage patient records and update information in electronic health records systems such as Epic Educate patients on lens options, frame styles, and proper eyewear care Collaborate with optometrists and other team members to ensure smooth clinic operations Support retail sales efforts by promoting eyewear products and accessories

Requirements

Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health is preferred Laboratory experience or optical experience is highly desirable Previous retail sales or customer service experience, especially in optical or healthcare settings, is advantageous Familiarity with Epic electronic health record systems or similar platforms is a plus Strong communication skills with the ability to educate and assist patients effectively Ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced environment Retail management experience is beneficial but not required A genuine interest in eye care and helping patients improve their vision and appearance
