About the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are looking for a Plant Operator to be responsible for the operation and monitoring of the equipment within his/her designated area, by ensuring that safety is maintained and that production objectives are met. This is done under the direct supervision of the Backfill Plant Supervisor or designate.What the role entailsLocated in Lac de Gras, this role will be reporting to the Supervisor of Plant Operations, or his/her designate. The working schedule will be a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation that includes working weekends, holidays, and overtime. The incumbent works a 12-hour daily schedule that may include day and night shifts.Main responsibilities will be:
Identify, assess, and control hazards to ensure work is performed safely and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety standards and policies and attend and participate in daily Toolbox Meetings.
Foster and develop a good safety culture within the Backfill plant and immediately report all incidents and accidents to the Plant supervisor.
Complete operational checks in designated sections of the plant and report deviations and complete regular and assigned plant operation duties in designated areas.
Troubleshoot operational problems to maintain a steady state of operation and maximize plant utilization and throughput to meet or exceed production targets and clearly communicate all production and safety related issue to team members and cross shift.
Perform plant clean-up and good housekeeping in the plant to maintain the plant and equipment cleanliness to a high standard and report maintenance issues to supervisor.
Work towards achieving the 5 levels of certification in the progression plan.
Ensure proper and safe operation of the boilers, complete daily boiler checklists and maintain boiler room logbook and test boiler safety devices.
Water treatment testing and water quality management and oiler blowdowns dependent on water conditions.
Inspect boilers shell for hotspots.
Tube punch waste boiler when required.
Inspect glycol system pumps to ensure they are in proper operating condition, perform Boiler isolations and routine inspections for leaks of fuel or glycol.
About youTo be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
One year of Plant Operator experience.
Fourth (4th) Class Power Engineering Certificate.
Literacy skills required to read and understand manuals and written instructions.
Specific knowledge and skills to receive certification in various circuits e.g., crushing.
Knowledge of the safe and proper operation of a various equipment.
Ability to learn and understand technical procedures and information quickly.
Excellent oral, written, and active-listening skills.
Ability to work in high stress situations and resolve issues.
Highly effective organizational, time management and analytical skills. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to take initiative and work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to maintain standards of conduct and demonstrate sound work ethics.
