Job Duties

At Aecon, people are at the heart of everything we do. Aecon is focused on identifying, attracting, and hiring talented and diverse Paving Personnel for the 2024 Construction Season.

• Operate the paver and other heavy equipment in a safe manner.
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
• Operate the paver controls to lower the screed, control the hopper, and navigate the direction of the paver.
• Align the paving machine into position when receiving asphalt by dump truck.
• Monitor temperature of asphalt flowing from the hopper.
• Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the paver.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge & Experience

• 2-3 years\' experience of working in the paving and asphalt industry.
• 2-3 years\' experience operating paving equipment
• 2-3 years\' experience working on municipal and highways paving projects.
• 2-3 years\' experience and understanding of paving and paving processes
• Maintains a valid Class 5 driver\'s license or better.
• Own vehicle to get to and from jobsite.
• Willing to work overtime, as required.
• Must comply with the company\'s drug & alcohol program, including testing requirement.
• In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OSH guidelines.
• Ability to communicate and report effectively in a team environment.

Compensation and Benefits

• $32.00-$40.00 /hour straight time hourly rate
• The position is eligible for overtime. All hours worked in excess of 8 hours per day or 44 hours in a week shall be paid at 1.5 times the straight time rate.
• Project work is scheduled for 14/2, 12-hour days, schedule flexible to change (Highways)

• 6-10% vacation pay will be provided in accordance with Alberta Employment Standards
• Camp accommodations or Living out Allowance (LOA) provided for work on site
• Transportation to site provided.

Working Conditions and Environment

• Primary work location will be at various project sites across Southern Alberta and South Saskatchewan
• Project, training, and business-related travel may be required.
• Exposure to construction work site environment in all seasons
• Relocation will be required. Relocation costs covered by employer.
