Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking an Operations Trainer, Welding.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

• Education:

• Welding Trade Certification/Diploma
• Red Seal Welding required
• Experience:

• 5+ years applicable trade experience as Red Seal required
• 5+ years in shipbuilding experience, preferably in naval ship new construction.
• Self-starter with the ability to complete tasks effectively and efficiently
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment
• Ability to take direction and give instructions
• Familiarity using a computer (including Microsoft Word, Excel etc.)
• Be a Team Leader

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver trade training
• Develop new training material for new products
• Interact with trade in production area and assess effectiveness of training
• Develop and train apprentices
• Provide back up to production for supervisor absenteeism
• Effectively instruct in a classroom environment
• Counsel and assist in GAP closure so that trainees successfully complete the orientation
• Responsible for scanning in and scanning out employees at beginning and end of shift with handheld device
• Maintain material stock levels in Weld Test Centre
• Complete all paperwork and documentation from training courses and from welder testing in an agreed upon time frame
