OPERATIONS TRAINER, SAFETY
Located at 3099 Barrington Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, B3K 5M7, and 35 Micmac Boulevard, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, B3A 4Y8, Irving Shipbuilding is proud to be Canada\xe2\x80\x99s National Shipbuilder. Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Operations Trainer, Safety.
The Operations Trainer, Safety\'s responsibilities are to assist in the development, teaching and monitoring of safety training programs for Irving Shipbuilding employees at all locations. This role is responsible for supporting overall training effectiveness through optimizing our Learning and Development systems, submitting training records for all employees, and ensuring that all curriculum is delivered in a fashion that will allow the workforce to retain the required knowledge to pass the certification test and perform work safely in production.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Completion of a post-secondary education (Diploma or Degree) in a relevant field
  • First Aid Train the trainer
  • 3m Fall Pro, Confined Space and fit test train the trainer
  • CSA Qualified Equipment train the trainer course
  • Instructional skills certification
• Experience: 2 to 5 years of related work experience required
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with all levels of leadership and union

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver course material and understand different learning styles to ensure course content is understood and the minimum requirements are met (passing grade on the test is achieved)
• New Hire Safety Orientation
  • Supervise group for full week
  • Responsible for safety and pay
• Prepare documentation and supplies for training session
• New Hire Coaching sessions and audits
