Overall Responsibilities

To provide leadership and direction through proper training and communication to operations personnel to meet schedules. To supervise the manufacturing and packaging of product in a safe and cost effective manner in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.

Specific Key Responsibilities & Duties

Assign operators to specific duties within our manufacturing, packaging and/or warehouse departments on a day-to-day basis

Assist in planning of daily and weekly production schedules and staffing requirements

Trouble shoot any production problems to minimize impact

Provide initial, and ongoing training to operators in areas of safety, equipment and handling, Standard Operating Procedures, GMP requirements and company policies and practices

Inspect all machinery for cleanliness, safety requirements and proper set up prior to production

Monitor and maintain housekeeping and sanitation programs/standards

Investigate opportunities for improvement to increase efficiencies

Interact with peers, subordinates and other departments to achieve common goals

Complete and offer suggestions for improvement of all manufacturing and packaging documentation

Check and approve labour reports and overtime as submitted by employees

Monitor equipment and premises, issuing work orders for maintenance required and continued follow-ups to ensure that repairs are completed on a timely basis

Participates in employee evaluations and discipline

Maintain necessary inventory of tablet tooling, spare parts and materials

Ensure all ingredients are present as stated in the manufacturing formula and packaging form prior to production

Escalate any problems during a production run with recommendations for their solution

Escalate deviations from Standard Operating Procedures and manufacturing/packaging instructions

Working in compliance with the company's Health & Safety Policies/SOPs including but not limited to the Safety Responsibilities Procedure

Will comply with Good Manufacturing Practices in all GMP sensitive areas of Jamieson Laboratories Ltd. facilities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements



Three (3) years supervisory experience in the pharmaceutical industry specifically in the manufacturing of tablet Compression and coating and/or equivalent University or College degree in a science related field

Managing/supervising unionized employee an asset

Computer literate

Working knowledge of regulations (GMP's and WHMIS)

Problem solving skills and abilities

Proven human relation and communication skills

Must be self-motivated and be able to work in a TEAM environment

Validation experience would be an asset
