This position requires to relocate to 1300 Ridley Island Road, Prince Rupert, BC.

SGS housing will be provided.

This position is expected to direct, plan, organize and motivate staff in the performance of their responsibilities and functions. Ensure Operational targets and customer expectation are met in timely and efficient manner, while observing corporate quality, environmental & health and safety requirements.

1. Accountable for the delivery of data to achieve client satisfaction by maintaining production and specified turnaround targets.

  • Responsible for managing production by providing client services and internal operations with supervision/assisting Grain Grading of samples and conveying accurate information on results to meet client satisfaction.
  • Review results for accuracy prior to release to customers
  • Monitors production and ensures optimum staff levels/shifts to achieve standards for production, quality and financial performance. Monitors throughput and performance.
  • Manages supplies to achieve optimum production and cost effectiveness.
  • Monitors and reports weekly production status. Maintains production targets and takes proactive measures to sustain these targets.
  • Provide authoritative opinions in their area of expertise and finds new and innovative ways of improving production efficiencies.
  • Works toward continuous improvement in production and efficiency, delivery of quality data promptly, adhering to predetermined schedules.
2. Complies and ensures that all work follows Quality systems and that quality targets are maintained.
  • Accountable for ensuring that the quality of data, current methodologies and the execution of the methods are in compliance with the current accreditation under ISO 17020.
  • Accountable for familiarizing oneself with the Quality Manual and ensuring appropriate documentation is current and reliable.
  • Coordinate H&S activities assigned for the location
  • Visiting work sites to evaluate field staff for compliance to SOP\xe2\x80\x99s and H&S regulations.
Qualifications

Education: Diploma in a related discipline or equivalent experience; preference in a science field
Experience: Over 4 years of previous experience as Grain Grader and very familiar with the AGRI bussiness
  • Over 3 years of supervisory experience in Agriculture or a related field
  • Previous supervisory experience in a union environment an asset
  • Candidates must be proficient in using various type of computer software (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Possess and maintains a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
  • Travel to other SGS locations may be required from time to time.
