About this opportunity
Reporting to the site General Manager, the Operations Manager provides strategic leadership for the Production Management, Logistics, and Maintenance teams. This role works closely with other functional leaders across the business to drive growth, safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and service performance.

What you will do

  • Provide experienced leadership, coaching, guidance, and direction to the Operations Team.
  • Drive daily management of safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost goals through the implementation of total productive maintenance, standard work deployment, production scheduling, development, and performance management.
  • Champion and manage an environment of teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Establish targets, both financial and non-financial, with clear work plans, and hold managers accountable for achievement.
  • Analyze and manage operational data to ensure organic growth and alignment of departmental priorities.
  • Drive increased effectiveness and efficiency through Lean Manufacturing principles and initiatives.
  • Ensure the KPIs and key goals are achieved, and that manufacturing capacity meets the sales plan.
  • Utilize the company's performance management process for all direct reports, including providing coaching and development opportunities that will allow each individual's potential to be maximized and used effectively.
  • Support new product launches and innovation.
  • Support training activities to ensure workplace flexibility, robust operational procedures, and high quality.
  • Implement and sustain a strong preventive maintenance culture, integrated into the foundational daily management system.
  • Identify and implement strategic opportunities to drive cost reductions/productivity improvements in manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure a safe working environment consistent with WSBC and TC regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and good manufacturing practices.
  • Understand and adhere to all requirements of commercial contracts.
  • Ensure that all business matters are conducted in compliance with company policies.
What you have to offer
  • 10+ years' experience in a technically oriented manufacturing environment; 5+ years managing teams.
  • Flexographic printing industry experience a plus.
  • A strong focus on exceptional leadership and coaching; a verifiable track record of building teams in a manufacturing environment preferably in operations and maintenance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to work with a tenured and unionized workforce.
  • Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques along with experience and demonstrated sustained results.
  • Experience analyzing metrics to identify and implement process improvements.
  • A thorough understanding of the inter-relationship between manufacturing, technical, materials, quality and purchasing with exposure in all of these areas
  • Demonstrated safety leadership, knowledge, and experience.
  • Able to identify cost saving opportunities in production management, inventory management, machine productivity, and labor cost reduction.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of GFSI.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work with customers, suppliers, union leadership, and employees at every level of the organization.
