Job Description


The mission of the Labrador Friendship Centre is to provide the best possible services to enrich the lives of Indigenous Peoples of Labrador through the provision and implementation of social, cultural, health, educational, and developmental initiatives. Under the supervision of the Executive Director the Operations Manager is responsible for the management and operations of the social enterprises of the Centre. Presently, Gary Broomfield Medical Hostel (Gary B\xe2\x80\x99s), the Friendship Diner (the Diner). Staffing Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Hire, supervise and evaluate program staff. Operations Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Responsible for identifying best buy solutions. \xc2\xb7 Order and receive supplies for Gary B\xe2\x80\x99s and the Diner. \xc2\xb7 Ensure the policies of the Labrador Friendship Centre are followed. \xc2\xb7 Ensure the operation standards regarding health and safety are maintained. \xc2\xb7 Liaison with agencies that utilize Gary B\xe2\x80\x99s and the Diner for our guests\xe2\x80\x99 needs. \xc2\xb7 Promote the services provided by the Social Enterprises as well Labrador Friendship Centre. \xc2\xb7 Ensure the social media outlets for the Friendship Diner, Gary B\xe2\x80\x99s or any other future social enterprise is monitored, updated, and posted on a daily basis. Financial Management Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Prepare annual budget projecting revenue and expenditures. \xc2\xb7 Monitor per diem amounts, make recommendations for change. \xc2\xb7 Establish inventory control systems. \xc2\xb7 Ensure the social enterprise remain financially viable. \xc2\xb7 Make recommendations to the Executive Director for the necessary adjustments or changes to ensure the financial viability of the social enterprises. \xc2\xb7 Explore other economic development opportunities that will support the objectives of serving the membership that may become available to the Centre. Property Management: \xc2\xb7 Prepare and maintain rental agreements with tenants for office rentals. \xc2\xb7 Responsible for management and administration leasing of office space. \xc2\xb7 Responsible for overseeing the maintenance requirements of the social enterprises. \xc2\xb7 Responsible for ensuring that all annual checks, such as fire alarms, fire extinguishers, etc, are completed. \xc2\xb7 Make arrangements for the repairs and maintenance requirements for Labrador Friendship Centre. Other: \xc2\xb7 Assist the Executive Director with proposal development, complete with budget for projects that are considered necessary to enhance Gary B\xe2\x80\x99s, the Friendship Diner, and any other potential economic development entities. \xc2\xb7 Sits as one of the employer member representatives of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee. \xc2\xb7 Other related duties, as required. Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 Post-secondary graduate of a Business Administration Program with three years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in financial management or business management or an equivalent combination of education or experience. \xc2\xb7 Must have working knowledge of a Financial Management computerized system and Microsoft Office. \xc2\xb7 Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to direct and supervise personnel. \xc2\xb7 Possess good general administrative skills. \xc2\xb7 Must possess knowledge in the area of personnel and financial management; ability to implement sound financial and inventory control systems. \xc2\xb7 Ability to meet and relate to the general public on a daily basis. \xc2\xb7 Experience with community programming. \xc2\xb7 Possess a valid class five driver\xe2\x80\x99s license. \xc2\xb7 Must be a self-starter who requires little or no supervision \xc2\xb7 Successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct. Assets:

  • Knowledge of Labrador Indigenous cultures.
  • Knowledge of an Indigenous language.
\xc2\xb7 Indigenous or of Indigenous ancestry. Salary: $ 64,000 annually plus benefits Hours: 35 hours per week.
