Midland Transport is currently seeking a full-time Operations Manager reporting to the Terminal Manager at the Dartmouth Courier Terminal . The selected candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a \xe2\x80\x9cCan Do\xe2\x80\x9d attitude.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

• Post-secondary education in Business Management or equivalent experience in the Transport/Courier industry required
• Minimum three (3) years of Dispatch, Dock and Transportation experience required
• Minimum three (3) years of Management and Supervision experience required
• Trained and familiar with terminal equipment, dangerous goods, and all Transportation government regulations
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong Communication, organizational, and time management skills
• Problem solving ability
• Familiarity with all Microsoft Office applications
• AS400 and Facts system knowledge is an asset but not mandatory

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day to day operational areas to achieve the highest efficiencies possible, including dispatch and scheduling of all drivers and dock staff, coordination of equipment maintenance etc.
• Respsonsible for productivity measurements, equipment utilization and claims
• Engage staff while ensuring Superior Quality Service to all customers and stakeholders
• Supervision, coaching and development of staff including conducting driver ride along audits
• Ensure Equity and Occupational Health and Safety are at the forefront;
• Responsible for the Operational and Cost goals for the Dock and Dispatch Operations
• Ensure all Dock, Dispatch and P+D KPI measures are met and/or exceeded
• Ensure cross training is in place for all positions, and staff is scheduled properly for coverage on weekends, holidays, vacation, peak times, etc.
• Support and promote continuous improvement.
