Reporting to the Director of Operations the Operations Manager is responsible with planning, directing and helping coordinate field operations throughout the business. The Operations Manager is responsible to ensure performance, accountability and profitability with regards to all field operations. This person will also define and implement corporate policies, procedures, and best practices. Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead, coach and mentor Superintendents as well as all field employees with positive reinforcement and guidance
With the help of Human Resources, coordinate and help with Operator/Supervisor recruitment needs
Monitor and evaluate employee performance as well as deal with disciplining issues
Help create and implement new systems and procedures as well as correct/maintain any deficiencies in regards to operations
Assist in job quoting and logistical planning
Work with and assist Sales team on upcoming/ongoing work
Approve and monitor necessary/unnecessary costs with regards to operations such as fuel, hotels, trucking expenses
Work closely with Maintenance staff on equipment problems and maintenance issues
Help create budgets and liaison with Senior Management on forecasts, etc
Assist in conflict resolution between the company and clients when necessary
Liaison with Senior Managers on any new company initiatives policies and procedures
Work with HSE department on implementing policies and procedures and ensuring they are adhered to at the field level
Participate and engage in regular field leadership visits
Liaison with clients and in regularly attending client meetings and events
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to be discrete and maintain high levels of confidentiality
Demonstrated communication skills, including oral, written and presentation abilities, networking and relationship building skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Strong organization/priority management skills
Effective problem solving and conflict management skills
Experience Requirements:
5-10 years of Field Leadership/Project Management experience in construction and/or oil & gas industry
Strong experience in supervisory roles running teams and/or departments
Education Requirements:
Leadership/Management diploma or degree an asset
Courses or seminars on supervision, safety, teaching, facilitation or management an asset
Safety tickets an asset
