Therefore, we are seeking a Operations Maintenance Coordinator to join our growing team in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This dynamic role will be instrumental in driving the safety of our day-to-day operations and the overall performance of our facility.

  • An inter-provincial Power Engineering Certificate valid for Alberta is preferred. Other technical education may also be considered depending on the experience that the candidate has in industry with a similar focus.
  • Several years of operational experience in a large plant (SAGD, Upgrader, Petrochemical Complex)
  • Ability to work in an integrated team atmosphere but also work independently
  • Strong organization and people management skills
  • An effective understanding of the regulatory requirements relative to the compliance and management of a SAGD/Upgrader facility
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail programs, document control and drawing management systems
  • Commitment to the successful introduction of work processes; a safety-first culture; and adherence to Safe Work Practices and Corporate Policy
  • Knowledge of W.H.M.I.S, TDG and OH&S regulations
  • SAP Experience relating to work notifications, planning, scheduling, requisitions, and material master process.
  • Valid Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada

Your Role with Our Team

The Operations Maintenance Coordinator is a key link between the Operation, Maintenance, Technical, and Production teams that ensures maintenance, technical, and process issues are discussed, addressed, and resolved. The Operations Maintenance Coordinator has the primary accountability and responsibility for meeting the production, safety, environmental and regulatory goals of the Long Lake facility by using knowledge of equipment availability to schedule equipment repairs. You will be an operations subject matter expert and must have high level of knowledge of the operating units in the facility. Strong cross functional skills in the areas of Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Work Processes and Employee development are required. You will assist with the development of plans, processes, and measures to achieve safe, efficient, and reliable operation and maintenance of the facility. You will also be required to:
  • Support the Production Superintendents and teams to meet production goals;
  • Assist in troubleshooting production issues;
  • Support the Production Department in maintaining the facility to a high level of reliability;
  • Issue daily directives with maintenance tasks and priorities assigned to the Production Department;
  • Ensure that root cause analysis for equipment failure has been initiated;
  • Consult with contact engineers on equipment readiness relating to unit operability;
  • Interface with the Maintenance Department to appropriately prioritize maintenance activities and ensure they are executed in a timely manner;
  • Maintain the Production Turnaround Work List;
  • Manage and schedule Regulatory work;
  • Review Alternate Isolation documents as required;
  • Assist with and take a leading role in the review, revision, implementation, and use of Operations Procedures, routines, check sheets, etc;
  • Assist with complex identification, evaluation, and root cause investigations of minor and major technical issues with plant equipment and systems;
  • Take a lead role in Shutdown and Maintenance planning;
  • Troubleshoot process problems and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization; and,
  • Be a champion of the maintenance work process flow and lead by example to demonstrate to the organization how work gets done in this process.
