Job Description



G4S Aviation, under contract with the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), delivers screening services in 21 airports in BC and the Yukon Territory. Reporting to the Senior Operations Director, Aviation, the Operations Director, Daily Planning will lead the Operation Centre (OC) and Capacity teams responsible for resource planning and management at the Vancouver International Airport. This position must ensure adherence and compliance with all company policies and procedures, all relevant legislations, and any applicable collective agreements.

Role Responsibility:


Major Responsibilities, but not limited to:
  • Provides leadership, direction, and coaching to the OC and Capacity teams responsible for providing passenger forecasts and resources to the YVR Operations. Key role is to provide a 360-degree view of the operation to drive Efficiency and support Effectiveness goals.
  • Ensure service levels are consistently met, optimizing staffing levels, minimizing costs through limited overtime, and compliance with Employment Standards and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Coach and correct non-compliant behavior and expected skill level in the management team and the screening personnel. Develop and implement formal training and performance development plans as required.
  • Collaborates with other departments and areas of the organization to improve processes within the organization, service delivery to CATSA and its clients, namely, YVR and the travelling public. Reinforces with their team the importance of staying within their area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for strategic resource plans that focus on meeting screening goals, targets and maximizing billing.
  • Makes recommendations as to the hiring, promotion, or reassignment of personnel to the benefit of the organization.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources to provide positive and effective succession and training plans for their team members.
  • Provides a transparent Governance and Compliance program which allows CATSA to have complete visibility into operational performance.

The Ideal Candidate:

Formal Education, Licenses and Certifications Required
  • University Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of progressive management experience preferably in a unionized environment
  • Experience leading, supporting, and managing a team or several teams of managers in an operational setting required
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels, from front-line staff up to senior management, with a high level of diplomacy, tact, discretion and professionalism.
  • Proven ability to write business reports, operational plans, policies, and other documents.
  • Strong operational background with a proven track record in managing and meeting KPIs
  • Strong communication, client service and consulting skills
  • A solid track record of leading change with a strong drive for results
  • Strong leadership, presentation and persuasion skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build influence with stakeholders and other strategic business partners
  • Proven ability to delegate tasks effectively
  • Must be eligible to attain and maintain the appropriate level of Federal and Transport Canada security clearance
