*Candidate of Indigenous ancestry (i.e., Turtle Island - First Nations Status and non-Status, M\xc3\xa9tis or Inuit) is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the Administrator and first point of contact for Indigenous Initiatives team and activities by ensuring communication flow, organizing meetings and schedules, preparing materials, creating posters, and driving processes and improvements.
  • Responds to requests for information about initiatives, events, and activities.
  • Provides general consultation and awareness on culturally specific topics that reflects lived experience and Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Being and Doing.
  • Supports a safe and welcoming student drop-in space, including ensuring lounge is open and prepared for visitors, tidies the space, and replenishes supplies.
  • Determines students need and redirects to appropriate resources (counselling, financial aid).
  • Promotes services and activities through college website and writes content for social media; liaises with Marketing, Communications and in-house (Digital Engagement Coordinator) for posting.
  • Works collaboratively with the Indigenous Student Supports Specialist in organizing and coordinating events, workshops, and set-up of department activities.
  • Organizes all technology and logistics including venue, invitation, catering, performers, volunteers, advertising, and invoicing.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the office, such as file management, note taking, printing, preparing for meetings.
  • Leads the acquisition of promotional materials each year and works with vendors on design and final proofs of graphics on promotional items-includes tracking and replenishment of materials for all campuses.
  • Maintains calendar for Director and Manager by arranging meetings, scheduling appointments, and managing their time effectively.
  • Oversees the day-to-day financial activities of the department, events, projects, and services, verifying compliance with college requirements, as well as accepted accounting and audit principles.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
  • Three-year diploma/degree or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of administrative experience in a student service and/or community organization including planning for events/workshops.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Being and Doing acquired through courses, certificate (e.g., Indigenous Knowledges and Experiences certificate) or equivalent lived experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and databases.
  • Experience in finance/monitoring budgets, working knowledge of accounting/book-keeping practices and principles.
  • Background in marketing or promotion is an asset.

  • Ability to travel between campuses for events.

  • Solid collaboration, teamwork, and people skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 kg or 44 lbs (i.e., marketing material, swag, etc.).
  • Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College\'s priorities on diversity and equity.
Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
