Who we need Reporting to the General Manager, Manufacturing, we are looking for an experienced Operations Manager with the people leadership skills to join us as our new Operations and Maintenance Manager. You will have comprehensive oversight of construction projects, maintenance activities, and facilities management, and will be key in maintaining an efficient production environment. You will lead a team of five, ensuring both equipment effectiveness and safety while optimizing productivity. Your responsibilities will extend to managing the maintenance budget, establishing a proactive maintenance program, and leading our facilities move slated for 2024. This is a facility with 300 people onsite, and they will all depend on you to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the building and to make things happen.   • Manage projects from planning to execution. You will collaborate with internal resources to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets for construction, maintenance, and facilities projects. You will execute projects according to plan, primarily focusing on meeting project objectives and exceeding expectations.
  • Manage resources. You will efficiently allocate labour, equipment, and materials for projects and maintenance and facilities tasks. You will continuously monitor resource utilization and adjust as necessary to maximize productivity and minimize delays across all areas of responsibility.
  • Manage risks. You will identify potential risks and issues impacting project timelines, maintenance routines, and facilities operations. You will develop holistic risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address these challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to operations proactively.
  • Manage third-party partnerships. You will build relationships with suppliers and subcontractors for construction, maintenance, and facilities-related materials and services. You will negotiate contracts, resolve disputes, and maintain positive working relationships to ensure timely delivery and efficient operations in all areas.
  • Manage project documentation. You will create and maintain comprehensive records for maintenance and facilities activities, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. This includes plans, permits, change orders, progress reports, maintenance logs, and facility records.
  • Control costs. You will monitor expenses not only for construction projects but also for maintenance and facilities operations. With quality and safety as priority, you will identify opportunities for cost savings and implement cost-effective solutions across the spectrum of responsibilities.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration. You will demonstrate and nurture open communication among project teams, maintenance staff, facilities personnel, subcontractors, and stakeholders. We value the input of all our employees, and you will play a vital role in encouraging feedback and driving positive change within the facility; adapting to the ever-changing business and staying focused on earning customer satisfaction.
  • Lead facilities maintenance. You will oversee staff, providing guidance, direction and mentorship to ensure efficient operations and high-quality work in these critical areas. You will contribute to developing long-term maintenance and facilities strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Health and safety adherence. You will ensure the team is up-to-date and committed to following health and safety regulations, and drive a safety culture across all production operations.
You have:
  • The experience. You have expertise in operations management, with experience implementing efficient processes and best practices in manufacturing and construction environments. You have a clear understanding of lean operations, metrics management, capacity planning, financial budgeting, labour planning, scheduling, material flow/inventory management, lead time, and waste reduction. You have experience managing large-scale projects from end-to-end. You can easily prioritize resources and objectives to deliver multiple projects at once
  • The leadership. You have experience leading teams, influencing without authority, navigating different personalities and resolving conflict. You can inspire and drive success and process improvement initiatives across operational (manufacturing) and business management settings in any industry. You have the confidence to draw on your expertise and make well-thought-out decisions. You can communicate with your labour teams, peers, supervisors, and other teams. You can inspire and motivate a team, and you have a proven track record of leading teams toward achieving KPIs. You can mentor and build leaders within your team.
  • The flexibility. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment with high complexity. You can manage operations in multiple departments across multiple shifts.
