Duties include initial problem definition and clarification through diagnostic testing and instructions from senior staff and follow through to resolution.The role is to support the Digital Transformation Strategy at Gahcho Kue Mine by enabling the use of innovative tools and concepts (quantitative methods, data science, model development, machine learning, automation, optimisation etc), in close collaboration with OEM\'s and OTM\'s to enhance decision-making, efficiency and performance of the mine. Best Practices, can quickly build relationships with key stakeholders, is comfortable with ambiguity and who is committed to safe work practices while striving for zero harm.Key responsibilities:

  • Implement/maintain network solutions (wired/wireless) in line with Group standards to enable connectivity and secure data communications ensuring optimum operational performance and uptime for all current and future systems (e.g. Power management, Siemens PCS system, Micro grid Control systems, Fatigue management, Personnel Alert Systems, Collision Avoidance Systems, Nice/Lenel access and surveillance management systems and Ground probe to mention a few).
  • Maximize system availability and performance through fault-tolerant configurations, efficient network and server architectures, and proactive monitoring
  • Oversee existing firewall rules following strict change control processes that support the secure enablement of hardware and systems within the bounds of current standards and policies
  • Maintain existing systems and supporting infrastructure adhering to compliance guidelines considering patch and security update cycles in line with established processes
  • Configure systems and database connectivity in support of the digital and innovation programs and projects
  • Manage and maintain access for external third-party users and OEM\'s for remote access in line with Group policy and process
  • Provide On-Site assistance in troubleshooting and remediating network issues in collaboration with Group and contracted offshore resources
  • Conduct reviews and approvals for implementation of operational changes and new solutions to ensure a smooth deployment minimising impact to business
  • Assist in inventory and asset management for OT resources, including software, server and workstations
  • Support, monitor, test and troubleshoot hardware and software problems.
  • Lead the delivery of technical projects in consultation with Group deploying technologies within the stipulated time frames and budget
  • Maintain strong working relationships and interactions beyond immediate team including Group T&S and other relevant disciplines to maximize synergies
  • Leverage learnings from across Group to support repeatable concepts and ways of working where appropriate
  • Contribute to the development of the Digital Transformation Best Practice
  • Identify and mobilise the necessary technical, digital subject matter experts and systems skills to address issues as they arise during project implementations and operations
  • Develop network of external technology providers and consultants to ensure technology peers are kept abreast of latest innovations and technologies
  • Manage external vendor relationships to ensure the timely provision of specialist resources for assignment to project teams as required
  • Visibly demonstrate SHE leadership
  • Maintain professionalism, good attitude and appropriate behaviour with OT personnel, clients and vendors
Reporting to the IM Manager North America Global, the role is site based, working a two (2) week in / two (2) week out rotation.Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in the field of computer science or in Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering and or possession of a valid interprovincial trade certificate in at least one related field;
  • 7 - 10 years of experience in the following:
  • Experience in deploying Engineering and Technical systems;
  • Experience leading the delivery of technology and data orientated architectures;
  • Experience in Project management practices and management of multi-disciplinary, geographically diverse teams ;
  • Proven track record of building valuable relationships across business both horizontally and vertically;
  • Experience in Cybersecurity principles and internetworking fundamentals for LAN and WAN;
  • Experience in IP based radio communication systems;
  • Proficient understanding of IT principles, including lifecycle planning, resource load vs. capacity estimations, architecture, analysis and integration;
  • Development of OPEX and CAPEX budget and basis of estimates;
  • Able to orchestrate documentation for procedures, standards and activities;
  • Information processing principles, methods and procedures;
  • Working knowledge of current systems software, protocols and standards such as;
  • Cybersecurity practises
  • Routing, switching and IP telephony
  • Hyper-Converged Compute Environments
  • Understanding of the OPC foundation (industrial interoperability standard)
  • Understanding of Data transfer and analytics to assist with Business Improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of common industrial protocols including understanding of RAMI and IIRA design principles to support Industry 4.0 based deployments
  • Exposure and working knowledge of private LTE/5G networks as part of our future migration plan
  • OT infrastructures, especially Networking, Mesh networks, RF networks including microwave and satellite technology;
  • Certification in Project Management will be an added advantage;
  • A+ / MCSE or equivalent - advantageous;
  • Project management or equivalent - advantageous;
  • Rajant certification - advantageous;
  • Infinet certification - advantageous;
  • CCNA/CCNW - advantageous; and
