Operational Security Technician

Job Description

As an Operational Security Technician, you will be responsible for issuing work permits to ensure the safe execution of the work. To do so, you will do tours on board vessels to validate the safe execution of the work. You will participate in the development of rescue plans and the issuance of certificates of absence of explosive gas. You will ensure that fall protection equipment is safe by performing time-based maintenance. You will contribute to the development of safe behaviours by providing coaching related to his field of expertise.



More specifically you will :


Evaluate the work to be done and make recommendations on safe ways to do it. Issue and follow up on work permits for the area, ensuring that conditions are met. Participate in the development of confined space and height rescue plans. Verify the state of the premises and participate in the issuance of certificates of absence of explosive gas before the execution of hot work in a compartment or a tank. Perform inspections of fall protection equipment and rescue equipment. Maintain Permits Office plans and applications. Perform compliance verifications on fall protection installations in your area. Advise the production department on hazardous work such as confined space work, work at height, work with hazardous materials, etc.. Optimize best practices in the process of issuing work permits. Participate in the development of response procedures for technical rescues. Perform any other tasks related to his duties.



Qualifications:




College diploma in a relevant discipline (occupational health and safety, firefighter training, environment, industrial safety, etc.). Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar position. Good physical condition. Experience in technical rescues. Excellent stress management and self-control. Training in the inspection of fall protection equipment (an asset). Experience or training in gas detection (4 gases, 6 gases), working at heights and confined space. Knowledge of fire prevention. Ability to use and interpret plans (an asset). Knowledge of ship repair and work processes in the fields of welding, steel erection, industrial cleaning, etc. (an asset).
