Our Team:

We have a proud history of mining in Manitoba. Our operations in Thompson, with two operating mines, is located in the awe-inspiring heart of the northern boreal region. It has a strong future in mining and milling, with an ongoing mission to grow as a safe, prosperous, and sustainable nickel producer.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Operational Excellence Consultant to join our Manitoba Operations in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position working on site.

As the Operational Excellence Consultant, you will strategically develop and influence the Continuous Improvement mindset within the operations, as well as network and collaborate closely with members from various functions to increase the maturity levels of Continuous Improvement within their teams.

Additionally, in this position you will:

• Implement Vale\xe2\x80\x99s management model within Manitoba Operations.
• Coach and empower operating and support teams building a continuous improvement mindset.
• Drive cost reduction and productivity gains while seeking optimizations of assets, people, and financial resources.
• Lead the implementation of new systems and processes and provide guidance, auditing, mentoring and analysis support to the management team.
• Recommend where to implement continuous improvement within a plant based on business drivers and cultural readiness.
• Train teams to foster best-practices, skills and problem-solving mindset throughout organizational levels.

About You

Education:

• Undergraduate degree would be considered an asset.
• Continuous and Lean Certifications are an asset.

Experience:

• Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in operations and management systems.

Skills:

• Skilled coach with outstanding problem-solving skills and abilities.
• Excellent Leadership, mentoring and coaching skills.
• Demonstrated ability to motivate, influence, and collaborate with others to build effective working relationships and teams.
• Strong communication skills and development of concise documents and presentation materials.
• Forward-thinking creativity a plus \xe2\x80\x93 not only use proven standard methodologies, but also promote new insights and processes to improve continuous Improvement within the operations.
• Skilled user of Excel, Power BI and other MS tools.
