Location: Halifax, NS (Hybrid) - Open to candidate being based out of Global Halifax or Global New Brunswick

About the Role:
Global Halifax and Global New Brunswick are looking for a full-time Online Web Producer to join their team. Reporting to the Online Managing Editor, the successful candidate would be part of a team of dedicated reporters responsible for keeping the Global News website current and relevant by writing original stories and curating Global News content. This position can be based out of Halifax, Moncton, Saint John, or Fredericton. The working hours are primarily Wednesday-Sunday from 9:30am-6pm but can include early mornings, weekdays, and evenings on occasion. This is a Group 4 position in the current collective agreement.

You\'ll be working on things like:

• Pitch, chase and write stories for Globalnews.ca with a focus on Nova Scotia (specifically Halifax) and New Brunswick.
• Generate original story ideas.
• Manage the front page of the Global Halifax and Global New Brunswick website.
• Publish video content to website and social media channels.
• Available to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
• Other duties as assigned.

If you have the following...we want to hear from you!

• Post-secondary education (or equivalent experience) in Journalism, Broadcasting or a related field.
• Strong writing and storytelling skills.
• Self-starter with good communication skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong social media knowledge (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.)
• Previous news writing, video editing, and/or photography experience would be an asset
• Ability to handle the demands and pressure of multiple, daily online and broadcast deadlines in a high-tech environment.
• Understanding of how major news organizations are employing a wide range of digital platforms and formats and familiarly with online publishing tools (e.g., WordPress).
• Familiarity with Canadian Press style would be considered assets.
• Proven abilities as a team player with a positive attitude.
