Salary:





$50.07 - $56.75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% on all regular earnings in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay day.

The University ArtsSciences department is looking to hire one or more individuals to provide instruction for the following IHSW courses:

IHSW 101

- Introduction into Human Services Work

IHSW 103

- Indigenous Wellness and Healthy Practices

IHSW 104

- Social and Health Issues in Indigenous Communities

IHSW 105

- Community Helping Project

Note that these courses will be taught via MS Teams (synchronous, online) or by videoconference.

Qualifications:

Required:

Master's Degree in Social Work or First Nations Studies, or a closely related field. (A Bachelor's Degree in a related field with extensive work experience in a related field will be considered.) Demonstrated extensive experience working with or in local indigenous communities or in-depth knowledge of local indigenous traditional practices. Experience teaching online and use of learning management systems. Commitment to student motivation and achievement. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work and contribute positively to the College environment are essential
Preferred:

Ph.D in Social Work or First Nations Studies, or a closely related field; The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education, or a readiness to pursue such a credential. Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous students. Experience with Indigenous Communities, Peoples and Culture. Preference will be given to current residents of BC.
