Job Description

Licensed Childcare Centre Pitt Meadows is looking to add a part time One on One Support Teacher to our School Age Program starting immediately (average 15 hours per week Monday to Friday during school days).

This is a term contract Monday to Friday position 3 hours per day (2:15pm - 5:15pm) on school days and 6 hours on school professional days and for July/August. Additional hours in other programs or at other locations could be available for a Licensed (ECE or ECEA) qualified candidate. The ideal candidate will hold a valid Early Childhood Education Certificate or ECE Assistant Certificate, but at minimum have experience or education working with children requiring extra support.

You bring with you the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and demonstrate excellent judgement in various situations. The ability to think on your feet, improvise, and guide behaviours in a positive manner are imperative in this role. Your communication skills are exceptional as you not only will be working with children and communicating with parents about progress, but interacting with various community stakeholders regarding child(s) development, successes, & challenges.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

To provide one-to-one support service to children with social/developmental needs in accordance with the expectations as outlined in the support plans and in a positive encouraging manner

Liaise with community stakeholders in a professional & respectful manner

Ability to provide feedback, evaluation and recommendations regarding program and children's development/progress

Respond to the individual needs of children and establish clear, consistent expectations

Assist with supervision of all children and program planning when necessary

Attend support meetings if required

Participate in all program activities

Maintain a safe, healthy, clean environment

Requirements:

Minimum 1-3 years working in a child care setting or equivalent experience working with children

Experience working with children with varying abilities &/or extraordinary needs/neurodiversity

Exceptional Communication skills

Demonstrate excellent judgement

Knowledge of Child Development

ECE or ECE Assistant license (considered an asset)

Valid first aid certificate

Valid Criminal record check
