to join our School Age Program supporting youth aged 7 to 17 years in their family homes and in community settings, as appropriate.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct support to school-aged children and youth to work towards their individual goals in collaboration with a transdisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting youth and families, be comfortable working independently in families' homes, have excellent communication skills, and be safety-conscious. Travel within the City of Calgary and surrounding area is expected; access to a personal vehicle is required. Preference given to candidates with experience supporting autistic individuals and their families, an understanding of neurodiverse-affirming practices and of naturalistic developmental behavioural interventions.
Job Type and Hours of Work:
Part-time, contract 1 year with possibility for extension with program growth.
Approximately 15 hours per week, 3-hours minimum per shift.
Hours of work are flexible to meet job requirements. Can be expected to include weekdays, days, and evenings during summer months; after-school hours, PD days, and early dismissal during school year.
Requirements:
Fluent in English (verbal and written).
Use of personal vehicle to transport youth as necessary (one-million-dollar liability insurance required).
Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C.
Clear Police and Child Welfare Checks.
Qualifications:
Degree or diploma in a related field.
Minimum one year experience working with autism or other developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities:
Adhering to all SASS policies and procedures.
Ongoing communication with families and clinical team, support families to apply effective strategies at home.
Maintaining daily data on each client's objectives and summarizing data monthly.
Planning, preparing, and organizing materials on a regular basis to ensure that sessions run smoothly.
Attending staff meetings, team meetings, supervision meetings, and other required meetings.
Performing other related duties as outlined in the job description.
