ON CALL / Part-Time Facilitator - Neighbourly Homes Saint John


Position Type: Part-Time, up to 18 hours/week (rotating schedule)


Reports to: Site Manager / Site Supervisor



Neighbourly Homes is a fully managed transitional housing community developed by 12 Neighbours Community Inc. We provide more than a place to stay -- we foster a community where people can reconnect with stability, dignity, and belonging. Our Saint John site is a micro-home courtyard designed to offer low-barrier, wraparound support to individuals exiting homelessness. Relationships, routine, and respect are at the heart of what we do.

About the Role:

The Part-Time Facilitator plays a vital role in keeping the rhythm of the community steady. Working in collaboration with our full-time team, you'll provide consistent support during transitions and peak hours -- helping ensure the site is calm, clean, safe, and relationally grounded.
This role is a good fit for someone who's reliable, present, comfortable with people navigating complex realities, and can offer support and structure without judgment.

Key Responsibilities: Resident Support & Engagement



Be a steady, respectful presence on-site, and build supportive relationships with residents Support daily routines and access to basic needs with consistency and compassion Help foster a community culture rooted in dignity, trust, and accountability Use de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed practices when needed

Site Coverage & Duties



Monitor shared areas and support cleanliness, safety, and maintenance reporting Assist with staff meal break coverage and seamless shift transitions Document shift observations, incidents, and updates accurately and clearly Participate in light community engagement or programming when scheduled
Team Collaboration

Work under the direction of the Site Manager and in coordination with the full-time team Be flexible in covering day, evening, or overnight shifts, depending on needs Attend scheduled team meetings and training sessions Uphold the core values and expectations of Neighbourly Homes in every interaction

Qualifications: To be considered, applicants must meet one of the following:



A Personal Support Worker or Human Services diploma Completion of at least one year of post-secondary education in a relevant field 2+years of direct experience in a related field (supportive housing, shelter, addictions, mental health, etc.)

Required:



Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to follow established routines and safety procedures Reliable, consistent, and grounded in professional boundaries Comfort navigating conflict or crisis calmly and appropriately Proficient in basic written and verbal communication Comfortable using email and digital reporting systems Reliable transportation is required for shift flexibility Must pass a criminal record and vulnerable sector check

Certifications: Applicants must have, or be able to obtain prior to employment:



Workplace Standard First Aid & CPR (8 hour course) Clear Criminal Record Check Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (including Social Development clearance)
The following are considered strong assets and may be supported through training if not yet held:

Naloxone / Opioid Overdose Response Training Mental Health First Aid ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Trauma-Informed Practice Training
Working Conditions

On Call / Part-time (up to 18 hours/week), scheduled to support peak hours and shift transitions May include day (8-12 or 12-4), evening (4-8), or overnight (12 AM - 8 AM) shifts Weekend and holiday rotation is required Overnight shifts (12 AM - 8 AM) are eligible for a $2.26/hour premium The role involves: Supporting individuals with complex needs, including those who may be under the influence or experiencing mental health symptoms Navigating conversations that may involve trauma Responding to multiple priorities during busy shifts Celebrating moments of progress with residents, however small

Pay: $22.00 per hour
