Tasks

Operate electronic or computerized control panel from a central control room Participate in training of other workers Control process start-up, shut-down and troubleshooting Participate in safety audits and programs Monitor outside process equipment Adjust equipment, valves, pumps and controls and process equipment Develop operator procedures for normal operation, start-up or shut-down Rotate between different petroleum, gas and chemical processing units during shift cycles May work in a team with shared supervisory responsibilities Ensure adherence to safety regulations Manipulate sections of pipes or drill stems at rig floor during drilling and during removal and replacement of pipes, drill stems and drill bits Clean up rig areas Assist in setting up, taking down and transporting drilling and service rigs and service equipment
