Position Summary

As an Officer-Court Liaison within our Court Bureau, you will be responsible for performing a variety of functions related to the safe and efficient operation of the court. The Court Liaison Officer (CLO) position are Special Constables that are sworn peace officers registered with the Ministry of the Solicitor General.




Responsibilities







What will your typical day look like?
  • Aids in the efficient and effective operation of judicial processes and the safety of the Courthouses overseen by Peel Regional Police. Provides customer service through telephone and in-person inquiries.
  • Researches and analyzes information from various sources to problem-solve issues through to completion.
  • Reviews, analyzes, compares and forwards information from various sources to provide accurate details for updating Criminal Records/CPIC; notifies police officers of trial dates, special requirements. Records accurate dispositions of matters.
  • Assists with Bail, Criminal and Provincial Offences Court proceedings, as required. Assists in setting trial dates using computerized scheduling systems or hard copies and notifies officers of trial dates and monitors attendance at Court. Prepares bail briefs and swears to a variety of Criminal and Provincial Informations.
  • Executes warrants and arrests persons, serves/swears processes and ensures relevant documentation is complete; Safely delivers prisoners to cells.
  • Vets disclosure requests and has continual interaction with prosecutors and investigators via phone, email, Niche or in person.
  • Facilitates Coroner\'s Inquests by organizing venue and resources. Liaises and assists Coroner, OIC, Crown Attorney, jurors, family members of victims and companies involved.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.






Qualifications







Enough about us, lets talk about you! You are someone with:
  • A Community College Diploma in Police Sciences or an equivalent field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of two years\xe2\x80\x99 law enforcement or legal experience related to court proceedings
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CPIC and UCR/Niche systems
  • Demonstrated analytical, research and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform all activities

Required testing: Applicants will be required to successfully complete the following tests:

  • Fitness Test - PREP Pursuit Restraint Circuit completed in 2:37 or less and shuttle run must be completed to level 6.5
  • Medical Test - hearing and vision requirements

Software skill levels have been determined on the basis of those identified in the Position Analysis Questionnaire (PAQ). Members applying to a position requiring a higher proficiency level than their current position requires, will be required to demonstrate such proficiency through applicable Microsoft Office 2010 testing to be eligible for advancement to the interview stage of the process. What we offer: The salary range for this Permanent, full-time position is $58,447.00-$91,673.00 per annum. Peel Regional Police offers a highly competitive compensation package; applicants will be considered for the top end of the range ($80,214 - $91,673) based on experience.
