Job Summary

The Officer, Traffic Management Systems (TMS) - Business is responsible for acting as a system solution expert for Service Reliability Strategy (SRS), Fleet Productivity System (FPS), Automatic Equipment Identification (AEI), and Service Scheduling. The incumbent investigates processes and system issues, recommends solutions, completes User Acceptance Testing (UAT) , and monitors changes after being promoted into production. Additionally, the role maintains various business operational files (e.g., Service Scheduling, Train Service, and Service Zones). Moreover, the position maintains and creates trip plans for marketing and operational requirements, investigates and corrects any errors with yard block and service scheduling tables, and perform data analysis to identify system and field reporting issues. Furthermore, the position coordinates changes to yard block and service scheduling tables initiated by Service Design and supports initiatives assigned to the TMS group.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as the business system expert for TMS Business and Tables Group, Network Operations, Service Design, Regional Operation Centres, Transportation, Train Reporting, and Service Delivery Centres using transportation systems
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Information and Technology (I&T) regarding system development and enhancements
  • Audit user inputs to ensure accuracy and compliance with CN reporting policy
  • Support various initiatives assigned to the TMS group, including safety and regulatory compliance, acquisitions, and partnering with shortline railways
  • Evaluate, analyze and update files and tables with a high level of integrity and organization, including SRS, AEI, FPS, Service Scheduling, yard blocks and Service Zones
  • Investigate and provide resolution to all train and car reporting issues
  • Develop documents and field training material
  • Document business rules and processes
Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The incumbent must be available to work shifts and weekends on a rotating basis to cover emergency changes or issues. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress. The role requires minimal travel (up to 10%) across the system for on-site support, major table change initiatives or major projects assigned to the TMS group.

Requirements

Experience
  • Railway Industry
  • Minimum 3 years of railway experience, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of transportation experience*

Education/Certification/Designation
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver\'s License
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering, Management or Computer Science*

Technical Skills/Knowledge
  • Knowledge of SRS including operating and reporting, AEI, Rail Traffic Control (RTC), and Wi-Tronix
  • Fluently bilingual both written and verbal an asset (English, French)*
  • Knowledge of railway operations and processes*
