The successful candidate will have a degree in environmental science or similar discipline, have a minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience, be goal orientated and comfortable working independently.RESPONSIBILITIESCompliance:

  • Liaise with applicable regulators as required
  • Research required standards and advise as applicable
  • Document Control
  • Hazardous Materials Management Inventory system implementation and maintenance
  • Submission preparations
  • Maintain Logs
  • Prepare documentation for submission to regulatory bodies
  • Maintain registries
  • Vendor documentation review and monitoring
  • Maintain federal fuel storage tank registry
  • Hazardous Materials Management inventory system implementation and maintenance
Auditing:
  • Audit Plan development and implementation
  • Organize all documentation
  • Non-conformity / corrective measures tracking
  • Participate in location Audits
  • Maintain audit register
  • Audit report preparation / presentation
Reporting:
  • Prepare / Update all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements
Incident Management:
  • Prepare documents for submission to appropriate worker\xe2\x80\x99s compensation boards
  • Monitor internal incident management system events for completeness and accuracy
  • Assist in incident investigations
  • Assist in the preparation of workers compensation claim documentation and case management
Program Development & Implementation:
  • Research
  • Assist in the preparation or update of programs (i.e Asbestos, Confined Space, Halocarbon Release)
  • Ensure all locations have current documentation
  • Hazard Assessments
  • Participate in annual internal reviews
Training:
  • Ensure all team members have completed required training as necessary
  • Maintain a current database of all employee training requirements and status
  • Assess existing courses for compliance to legislation
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree in occupational health and safety or relevant field; relevant professional certifications a plus (CRSP, ROH)
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the implementation and management of Environmental programs and management systems, preferably within facility operations
  • Success working with vendors supporting mutual safety objectives
  • Proven track record of success executing high hazard prevention programs;
  • A proven track record managing regulatory compliance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a proven record in both interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Bilingualism in French and English is preferred
