Job Description

Location: Victoria, Prince Edward IslandVictoria Potato Farm Inc. is seeking an Office Administrator to join our team! As a family-run farm and packing shed, the ideal candidate for this role will be a team player who is versatile and willing to perform various tasks. Reporting directly to the Owners, the Office Administrator will be responsible for bookkeeping, file management, and preparing payroll.About Victoria Potato Farm Inc.:
Victoria Potato Farm Inc., in beautiful Victoria by the Sea (PE), has been growing seed, table, and processing potatoes for over four decades. The family-run company has also been involved with export trade while continuing to farm.Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of day-to-day bookkeeping, including but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and journal entries;
  • Maintain proper bookkeeping procedures to ensure the integrity of all financial systems;
  • Prepare and file monthly HST returns and payroll remittances including making the required CRA payments on time;
  • Establish & maintain an effective file management system;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in existing data entry systems;
  • Coordinate with outside accountants in the preparation of year-end financial statements and corporate tax returns;
  • Execute payroll activities using Simply Accounting Software;
  • Assemble data and prepare periodic and special reports, manuals and correspondence;
  • Other such work requirements that may be inherent in the position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to perform non-routine tasks requiring strong judgment and initiative;
  • Ability to ensure discretion, confidentiality and security in the execution of all duties;
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and anticipate matters that require attention;
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office products such as Excel and MSWord;
  • Knowledge of AgExpert is considered ideal but not essential.
Qualifications
  • Office experience with general bookkeeping (preferred). Additional training may be provided.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize.
  • Criminal background may be required;
  • Access to reliable transportation;
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Compensation:
$20/hour based on 40 hours per week.
