Position Summary



The Store Administrator is a key support role responsible for managing the administrative and operational tasks for the garden centre. This role involves overseeing inventory control, assisting with staff inquiries, managing store records, and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for plants, a strong attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities



Administrative Support

: Provide general administrative assistance to the general manager, store manager, and staff. Handle supplier and staff queries both in person and via phone or email.

Inventory Management

: Update inventory records and assist in placing orders for plants, pots, tools, fertilizers, and other greenhouse supplies when needed.

Record Keeping

: Track purchase orders, invoices, and returns, while maintaining retail pricing records based on the most recent purchase from each buyer.

Visual Merchandising and Sales Coordination:

Create POs and signage in a timely manner, schedule weekly sales, and design slides for the reader board as requested by management.

POS System & Till Management

: Handle any issues with tills and the POS system. Resolve discrepancies, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide support to staff on using the system effectively.

Cash Handling & Sales Processing

: Assist with sales transactions, cash handling, and the use of the point-of-sale (POS) system (in office).

Report Generation

: Assist with compiling sales reports, performance metrics, and other business-related reports as needed.

Team Support

: Collaborate with the greenhouse team to ensure smooth operations. Help in other areas when needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications



High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant administrative or business qualifications a plus. Proven experience in an administrative or retail support role; previous experience in a greenhouse or horticulture-related environment is a plus. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills. Ability to handle cash and operate a point-of-sale system. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with tills and POS systems effectively. Basic understanding of inventory management and ordering processes. Knowledge of plants, gardening, or greenhouse operations is beneficial but not required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility and adaptability in handling a variety of tasks. Time management and organizational skills are a must.

Position Requirements and Working Conditions



This role may require occasional lifting or may be required to help with receiving. The work environment involves being in and around a greenhouse, where conditions may include heat and humidity. Wage commensurate with experience. Full-time, some weekends and holidays are required. Fluent in written and verbal English Legally permitted to work in Canada A positive, can-do attitude!
