Responsibilities


Under the direction of the Program Manager and the supervision of an occupational therapist (OT), the occupational therapy assistant completes therapeutic and technical support duties in the delivery of occupational therapy services to Nova Scotia Health Authority clients both independently and collaboratively with health care team members and students. The occupational therapy assistant is responsible to adhere to Nova Scotia Health Authority policies and procedures.

Qualifications


  • Graduated from a recognized community college occupational assistant program
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the uses and sources of commercially available assistive devices and equipment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the properties and uses of various types of thermoplastic and splinting materials
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills
  • Demonstrate competence in the operation and maintenance of a variety of appliances and power equipment e.g.: sewing machine
  • Experience with populations with disabilities.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred


Hours of Work


  • Long assignment, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Approximately eleven months


Salary Information
