In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC, as well as within a client and family centered care model and Island Health vision and values. Employs principles of a trauma-informed practice, strengths-based, recovery philosophy to provide occupational therapy services to assist clients with their psychosocial rehabilitation and maintain optimal health outcomes. Working under the general supervision of another Occupational Therapist, and within a multi-disciplinary team, the occupational therapist provides screening, assessment and intervention to children and youth within a tertiary mental health service for children and youth.
Provides psycho-education, consultation/resource and education to the client, their caregivers and community partners. Provides information to clients and families regarding access to community resources in order to facilitate an effective continuum of service and participates in ongoing development of group therapy component of the program by facilitating child and adolescent groups.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle; and Valid BC Driver's License.
