We are currently looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our Health & Wellness team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Manager, Health & Wellness, you will work together with the Health, Wellness & Safety team at NSPI and with the Emera Canadian Affiliates to design programs and provide direct employee support to remove barriers, provide rehabilitation and case management support, and help employees thrive in an inclusive workplace that supports their health and safety \xe2\x80\x93 both physical and psychological.

As Occupational Therapist, you will:

Consult on complex cases and provide case management support working as an integrated member of the Health & Wellness Case Management team.

Develop and monitor comprehensive return to work / stay at work plans and provide rehabilitation / vocational services to support employee\'s safe reintegration into the workplace following a leave or who require accommodation or workplace support.

Provide on-site interventions and on-the-job coaching to help employees to thrive at work within their safe working abilities and to reduce potential for injuries/ illnesses.

Communicate with employees, Managers, Health and Wellness Case Managers, treatment provider(s), medical consultants and external service providers to understand employee\xe2\x80\x99s individual needs and develop plans to support them at work or during a leave.

Work collaboratively as part of interdisciplinary project teams to develop or enhance programs designed to support Health & Wellness and Safety, including psychological health and safety.

Directly support critical incident response, integrating trauma-informed approaches.

Work with Safety Teams to refine proactive Health & Safety Programs designed to assess hazards (both physical and psychosocial) in the workplace and consult on the implementation of controls that enhance health & safety and prevent injuries / illnesses.

Provide expertise and consult on the revision of Job Safety Analyses, development of Safe Work Practices, revisions to Post Offer Employment Testing Program, and implementation of best practice approaches in Case Management.

A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Occupational Therapy

Be a member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia (COTNS)

Minimum 3-5 years of combined experience working in case management, as part of an occupational health team and/or demonstrated clinical experience assessing and supporting rehabilitation for clients with various health conditions.

Demonstrated knowledge in psychological health and safety, understanding of injury/illness prevention strategies, and experience providing direct mental health support to clients

Ability to be autonomous; working both independently and as part of the team

Previous experience working within occupational health, ideally supporting short term disability, long term disability, and WCB cases is an asset

Proficient working experience/understanding of policy and legislation in the areas of Human Rights, Privacy, Workers Compensation, Human Resources, and Occupational Health & Safety.

Experience in the development and implementation of Health & Safety programs and policies

Strong verbal and written communication

Proficiency with Microsoft suite products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

A valid NS Driver\xe2\x80\x99s license is required.
