The Occupational (OT) works in the Children's Therapy Services (CTS) program in various areas of Simcoe County Region. The OT is responsible for the assessment, treatment and consultation of infants and preschool children up to age of 12 who have or are at risk for any delays in their development.
The Occupational Therapist participates as a member of each child's Team, which may include: Resource Consultant, Infant Development Worker, Physiotherapist Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant (OTA/PTA), Pediatrician, Physician, Psychologist/Psychological Associate, Social Worker, Speech Language Pathologist and the child's parent, caregiver or legal guardian.
Services are provided within the Family Centered Model of Care. The OT will provide education to families, Early Intervention Partners and Community Programs to promote typical development, prevent potential delays and increase knowledge and skills.
Qualifications
Masters or Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) is required.
Membership with either the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) or the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapist (OSOT) is an asset,
Preferred minimum three to five (2-3) year's clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist with infants and children is required.
Demonstrated ability to function collaboratively and effectively within an interdisciplinary team and with community partners.
Potential for occasional evening work.
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated superior organizational and time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and multi task efficiently.
Demonstrate ability in conflict management.
Demonstrated good interpersonal skills.
Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle to provide client care / services off-site
