Position Summary



The Occupational Therapist will play a critical role in enhancing the PAS (Person Accessing Services) ability to engage in meaningful daily activities, while creating greater independence and overall wellbeing at Chrysalis. Reporting to the Director of Programs and Services, this position involves assisting PAS with skill-building activities to improve their physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities in a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, detail orientated, and able to develop and implement innovative strategies to enhance independence and their quality of life.

What You'll Do!



Staff Competency and Personal Care:

Ensure safe, effective, and dignified personal care practices for those receiving services.

Equipment and Environmental Accessibility:

Assess and recommend equipment and accessible environments.

Individual Therapeutic Support:

Provide targeted 1:1 sessions to support physical, emotional, and social well-being to People Accessing Services.

Behaviour Support and Complex Needs:

Assist with the development and implementation of Behaviour Support Plan (BPSs) and train staff on BPSs and monitor competency of them.

Program Development and Facilitation:

Plan and lead programs such as falls prevention, self-care education, mindful movement stations, art and nature, and relaxation-based activities.

Clinical Leadership and Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Team Leaders, Behaviour Consultants, and external clinicians to ensure holistic, coordinated support.

Data Informed Practice and Outcome Tracking:

Evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions with People Accessing Services.

Ability to make informed and timely decisions.

Strong ability to show understanding and sensitivity when working with People Accessing Services facing challenges or disabilities

Time Management and Organization:

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple treatment plans, documentation, and schedules efficiently.

Coaching/Mentoring:

Ability to mentor and facilitate training sessions

.


Skills and Qualifications



Education:

Completion of a master's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited University program, active registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

Experience:

Minimum 2-3 years of experience in occupational therapy, preferably in disability services or community-based settings.

Technical skills:

Proficiency with assessment tools, Google Suite, Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), data analysis, progress tracking, documentation and reporting.

Knowledge:

Anatomy and physiology, disabilities and conditions, therapeutic techniques and interventions, as well as health and safety standards.
