Position Summary
We are actively seeking a "Occupational Health Nurse" to join our growing team of rehabilitation and disability management professionals, working on-site for one of our clients in Leamington, ON
. As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will offer health services to all employees, including education, promotion of positive health models, treatment of illness and injury, and follow-up of ill and injured workers. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday 40 hours per week.
What You'll Be Doing
The Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for the efficient and effective deployment of Occupational Health Services to all site staff and management of the day-to-day activities of the health center, with a major focus on disability case management.
Case management of all occupational work claims (WSIB); includes completion of pertinent documentation, submission of forms and providing regular updates on the status of occupational claim.
Manage work reintegration and return to work for both occupational (WSIB) and non-occupational (STD/LTD) claims.
Manages and maintains an electronic database of all employee health records (historic and current).
Responsible for keeping track of all employees undergoing treatment for illnesses and injuries sustained during employment.
Management of Medical Surveillance program (oversight with Physician)
Provides OHU metrics as required and requested by functional site manager.
Meets with employees as necessary for health & Wellness purposes for work related issues; recommends referrals as necessary
In conjunction with Environment, health & Safety, advises when an ergonomic assessment is required to assist with accommodating and facilitating an early return to work.
Emergency response care and follow up with First Aid, CPR and AED credentials
Collaborating with onsite doctors and other members of the medical community to develop patient treatment plans as required.
Participates and provides leadership for Wellness Programs including mental health within organization.
Develops educational programs surrounding mental first aid.
Educates site staff and management as required and requested.
Advises management and employees on issues concerning mental and physical health.
Creating and managing disease prevention initiatives that promote exercise, a healthy diet, and smoking cessation.
In conjunction with EHS, gathers the necessary hazard and health data to investigate the effects of specific exposures on workers.
Working with business leaders to reduce the cost of disability claims and other health related expenses.
Other duties as required and assigned.
What You Need to Be Successful
Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
Minimum 3 years of experience as an RN or RPN is a must.
Valid CPR and First Aid certifications are a must.
Previous disability case management experience
Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of disability legislation and regulations, including Duty to Accommodate, Employment Equity Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Human Rights Legislation, Accessibility Ontario Disability Act (AODA), Occupational Health and Safety Act
What You Need to Stand Out
A diploma (DOHN) and/or Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN-C) is considered an asset.
Previous experience in Occupational Health Nursing is considered an asset
