Summary

The Occupational Health Lead develops, coordinates, implements, and manages a comprehensive employee health service program based on government and SAFE Work Manitoba guidelines, aa well as corporate policies. This individual provides preventative care and first aid as needed for the Portage la Prairie site location.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for monitoring and maintaining inventory control of all medical equipment and supplies across the plant.
• Supports occupational health programs to include, but not limited to hearing conservation, ergonomics, personal protective equipment (PPE), and behavioral observations. Develops training content and provides training to employees on health and safety programs.
• As required, evaluates physical conditions including taking vital signs, treating injuries/illnesses, and refering employees to offsite medical facilities when necessary.
• Maintains and files records.
• In collaboration with the HR Specialist and Safety Manager, assist with management of worker\xe2\x80\x99s compensation claims, accommodations and return to work programs.
• Manage and coordinate site first aid program including instruction of standard first aid CPR-C & AED.
• Provide education and health resources to employees including, but not limited to mental health resources, support, and awareness.
• Wellness Program development and management.
• Coordinate and administer onsite vaccination clinics such as flu shot and covid-19 vaccinations.
• Support attendance management by working with employees, as needed, on any stage of the attendance management program with attendance improvement plans.
• Manage and coordinate any current or future outbreak or pandemic.
• Communicate with appropriate client groups providing notification of absences and expected return dates.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Nursing (RN) (RPN)or LPN diploma required.
• 3+ years of related experience and/or training
• Spirometry testing, respiratory surveillance and occupational hearing conservationist preferred.
• Certificates: Certified Occupational Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Nurse Specialist (COHNS) preferred. Certification in CPR and AED preferred.
• Licenses: Manitoba RN, RPN or LPN license required
• A combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered for this position.
