As we grow, we are seeking a passionate and experienced
Occupational Health and Safety Manager
to lead and continuously improve our health and safety programs across all job sites.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain the company's health and safety policies, programs, and procedures in compliance with provincial regulations and company standards.
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement control measures.
Lead incident investigations and ensure timely reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
Provide guidance, training, and support to project managers, supervisors, and employees on health and safety best practices.
Ensure compliance with the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Health and Safety Act, Labour Standards Act*, and applicable codes. Liaise with regulatory agencies, insurance providers, and third-party consultants as necessary.
Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation or eligibility considered a strong asset.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety leadership role, preferably in the construction industry.
In-depth knowledge of Newfoundland and Labrador OHS legislation and construction-related safety requirements.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License and ability to travel to multiple job sites across the province.
Skills and Competencies
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence all levels of staff.
Practical knowledge of workplace inspections, hazard identification, and control implementation.
Ability to develop and deliver training sessions and toolbox talks.
Problem-solving mindset with a commitment to fostering a proactive safety culture.
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and incident reporting software.
